 ESX 3.5i and 4.0 can work on this box.
I had to use a Broadcom NetExtreme NIC cuz I couldn\'t get the NVIDIA nForce builtin NIC to work.
To get the SATA drives to work, you need to connect them to the SATA_RAID1 - SATA_RAID4 motherboard connectors (Silicon Image SATA controller). DO NOT connect them to the SATA1 or SATA2 connectors (NVIDIA SATA controller); DO NOT connect any IDE hard disks to either PRI_IDE or SEC_IDE connectors; DO NOT connect any USB hard drives.
Modify the BIOS Setup:
Advanced > Chipset > Onboard device -
Silicon Image mode: SATA Mode
SATA IDE Interface: Disabled
RAID Option ROM: Disabled

Was able to do clean installation without having to make any addition of device drivers. Have not checked if installation would work with RAID Option ROM: Enabled
