Q6600 question

Hello all, In the Hardware list Cpu\'s i noticed the "Core(TM)2 Quad Q6600 (2.40GHz)" and its compatible with "esx 3.5" I also noticed that in the hardware list states: "Quad core" and should be compatible with "3.5, 3.5i, 4.0" Q6600 is a Quad core, does it mean the Q6600 is only compatible with 3.5 or has it been tested on 3.5?
