Hey all, I am looking at building an ESXi 4.0u1 machine soon. I am looking for higher end specs because I plan on using this machine for 5+ years, to replace my aging dual Athlon XP server with Ubuntu /w VMWare Server 2.0 on it that has been serving for over 8 years now. . I have been looking at the GIGABYTE GA-880GA-UD3H (http://www.gigabyte-usa.com/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=3433). The reason I am looking at AMD and not Intel is because I am planning on getting a Phenom II 6X chip for it. Intel\'s offering for 6-core chips is SO out of my budget. I\'m not expecting the NIC to work, since it is the realtek crap. I already looking at Pro/1000 for it. My big issue is the northbridge/southbridge. I would like to know if people have experience with that chipset with ESXi 4.0. |
